From 1990 to 2002, he served as an investigator and deputy director of the Legal Department at Yichang Public Security Bureau. From 2002 to 2005, he pursued a doctoral degree in Criminal Law at Wuhan University Law School. In 2005, he began working as a lawyer.
From 2006 to 2008, he conducted postdoctoral research at the Institute of Sexual Sociology at Renmin University of China. In 2008, he joined Beijing Normal University.
